How to play Golf Solitaire

Golf turns a full deck into a simple sequence puzzle. You clear exposed cards by matching rank adjacency to the current waste card, while the stock limits how many fresh targets you will see.

  1. Start with the exposed tableau

Only the top card of each tableau pile is available. There is no building within those piles.

  2. Match one rank away

Move an available card that is one rank higher or lower than the current target card. In the standard pattern, suit and color do not matter.

  3. Keep the stock in view

When no useful match is available, draw the next card to set a new target. Each draw is a change of options, so scan the exposed tops first.

  4. Check wrap and redeals

Golf variants differ on whether King connects to Ace and whether the stock can be redealt. Read the selected game’s exact rules before planning a long sequence.

Try it

Before drawing, compare all exposed cards with the current target and take a legal move that opens a useful next card.

Solitaire rules vary between named games and variants. Use the in-app Rules and teaching controls for the exact board you choose.
